- Oversee all laundry processes: sorting, washing, drying, ironing/pressing, folding, mending and packing of linen, towels, uniforms and other textiles.
- Supervise and schedule laundry attendants and pressers; assign tasks, monitor performance and ensure productivity targets are met.
- Ensure laundry output meets hotel quality standards and turnaround times for daily rooms, outlets and banqueting events.
- Operate and monitor laundry machinery (washers, dryers, presses, mangles, steamers); ensure correct settings for different fabric types.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance; log faults and coordinate repairs with Engineering.
- Control and monitor inventory of linen, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals and uniform stocks; report shortages and place orders as required.
- Maintain accurate records: laundry production, chemical usage, linen loss/damage, repairs, and temperature/chemical concentration logs if applicable.
- Implement and enforce hygiene, chemical handling (MSDS), PPE use, and safety procedures in accordance with hotel and local regulations.
- Train new staff on equipment operation, quality standards, stain removal techniques, and safe work practices.
- Inspect returned laundry for quality, stains, and damage; arrange reprocessing or repairs where necessary and update loss/damage reports.
- Coordinate closely with Housekeeping, FO and Banqueting for special requests, urgent deliveries and event requirements.
- Manage waste water, effluent and environmental controls as per hotel policy and local regulations; support sustainability initiatives (water/energy/chemical reduction).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry areas, storerooms and staff facilities.
- Prepare shift handover notes and report daily performance, issues and improvement suggestions to Executive Housekeeper.
